Prostrate Therapy and Somatic Therapy

Stem cells are cells which are found in selected parts of the human body and are found from the time of birth all through adulthood.  Whatever be  the source of stem cells they have two common properties. Firstly they can divide repeatedly and secondly they can generate cells which can perform specialized functions. These properties make stem cells very useful to take care of health issues. In males it is seen that prostrate cancer is a very common malady. Good encouraging results have been seen in curing cancer by using stem cells and this has propelled forward the research in prostrate therapy. In male humans the prostate is a small, walnut-sized gland. This gland is wrapped around the urethra and is located beneath the bladder in men. If you look at the human anatomy you will come to know that the  urethra is actually a tube that carries urine from the bladder and semen from the epididymis in males. This makes prostrate a male sex gland. The prostate is generally seen to be associated with the function of secretion of components of prostatic fluid, which forms part of the semen that carries sperm in males. This makes the prostrate a very important gland in males and brings on the need to take good care of it.

It is generally seen that just like any other organ this too is affected by its own share of diseases and ailments. Commonly it is prostrate cancer, enlargement of the prostrate as well as its enlargement which are the common ailments affecting it. Timely and effective prostrate therapy is targeted towards taking care of these issues. Stem cells have been used in these cases to take care of prostrate cancer by effective prostrate therapy. Targeting the cancer cells and rendering them inactive and at the same time repairing the damage done by the cancer is targeted by these stem cells in prostrate therapy.

Somatic Therapy

Adult or somatic cells are found in adults especially in their bone marrow and blood. The basic aim of these somatic cells is to replenish the lost cells in the body. Since these somatic cells are found in adults they are therefore semi specialized and might not be as freely adaptable to specialization than that seen in embryonic stem cells. Using these somatic cells to cure and regenerate body tissues forms the basis of somatic therapy. Somatic therapy has been around for long and has shown several uses over the past several years. Transplantation is one major use of somatic therapy. The other major application of somatic therapy is seen in bone marrow transplants. With the research still on in somatic therapy there are bound to be many more head ways where somatic therapy can be of use.
