When explained to a layman in an easy language, a stem cell can be defined as a cell which is yet to be assigned to a job. That is, its final role is not yet known till now. Interestingly it can be very safely said that all cells in the body arise from stem cells as a result of their differentiation and division. Till the time the stem cell does not get the needed signal to divide into a particular cell it keeps mum and continues dividing slowly. Once it gets the signal to divide and differentiate into a particular type of a cell destined for a specific tissue it starts dividing and differentiating to form that cell. A stem cell has the potential of turning into several types of cells hence they are considered to be very valuable medically. When a stem cell starts differentiating it triggers of certain gene’s in itself which help him in detecting what kind of proteins need to be made in order to resemble the kind of cell it has to subsequently differentiate into.
These stem cells have been found to have immense potential to be used towards curing several dangerous and deadly diseases. The use of stem cells in these treatments makes them to be termed as stem cell therapy. Since stem cells can be differentiated into several kinds of cells therefore the medical potential associated with stem cell therapy is enormous. The removal of the infected cells and replacing them with similar new cells cultivated from these stem cells is stem cell therapy. Stem cell therapy has been used extensively to find a cure to several life threatening diseases. Based on the source of origin, these stem cells can be classified into two categories; adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells. The adult stem cells are the stem cells which have been isolated from adults while embryonic stem cells are isolated from embryos. The number of different cells that an embryonic cell can differentiate into is much more than those formed by an adult stem cell.
Read On For Adult Stem Cell Therapy
Adult stem cell therapy includes the use of adult stem cells towards certain diseases. The primary role of adult stem cell therapy is the introduction of these adult stem cells with the aim of repairing and managing damaged tissues where they generally reside in. Adult stem cell therapy was not hugely investigated by scientists till now but it has been very lately that this topic has garnered enough curiosity amongst the scientists and they have increased the research focusing more on adult stem cell therapy benefits.
