The side effects for stem cell transplants are same like those which you will have during chemotherapy. These effects are also bound to happen considering the large amount of strong drugs and therapy advised towards the treatment and administration of stem cell therapy.  These side effects differ from person to person and will one may show all of these side effects after stem cell therapy the other might not show all these effects. Risk of infection

You will have a low white blood cell count after your stem cell therapy.  This means you are more at risk of getting an infection.  You are most likely to get an infection from the normally harmless bacteria we all have in our digestive systems and on our skin.

Anaemia

Bad effect of stem cell therapy will result in your  red blood cell count falling after your treatment.  If it falls too low you will feel very tired, exhausted and lacking in energy.  You may also feel breathless when you move around.

A sore mouth

A sore mouth and mouth ulcers are very common side effects after undergoing stem cell therapy.  They can develop as a reaction to chemotherapy or radiotherapy or from a mouth infection.

Difficulty eating and drinking

Not suprisingly, if you are coping with sickness, diarrhoea and a sore mouth, you may not have much appetite just after your stem cell therapy and will therefore find it considerably difficult to eat and drink.

Feeling tired and exhausted

The other side effect of stem cell therapy is that  it will make you will feel very tired and run down.  This will be at its worst during the second and third weeks when your blood counts are at their lowest.

Infertility

A longer term side effect associated with stem cell therapy is that of infertility.  This means you will no longer be able to have children.  This condition mainly arises because of the high doses of chemotherapy involved during the therapy.
